Conventional formula

CR = displacement_lb / [0.65 × (0.7 × LWL_ft + 0.3 × LOA_ft) × beam_ft^1.333]

In plain language

The formula combines displacement, length and beam. It uses pounds and feet; we retain the conventional exponent 1.333 so the calculation can be reproduced.

How to interpret it

The number provides context for discussing motion between similarly sized monohulls.

Why it matters

It may highlight differences worth exploring during a visit and sea trial.

Limitations

It omits detailed hull shape, centre of gravity, sea conditions and personal sensitivity. We do not assign automatic ocean-suitability bands.

In practice

A higher value does not replace experiencing the boat or checking its condition.

This is not a comfort or safety certificate.
