An anchoring system contains components with different jobs. The anchor interacts with the bottom; the rode connects it to the boat; a roller leads its passage; the windlass handles the rode. Following these relationships helps you recognise the assembly without treating everything at the bow as the anchor itself.

The lesson reads names from a manufacturer’s schematic without reproducing its installation. It explains why chain, rope, gypsy and drum are not interchangeable words. The example is a conceptual inventory without rode length, sizing or seabed selection. Anchoring assessment and procedures remain dependent on local conditions, the actual system and qualified review.
