Tacking and gybing

The conceptual difference lies in which sector crosses the wind direction.

Two changes of tack can finish with wind on the other side of the boat while following different geometric relationships. In a tack, the bow crosses the direction from which wind comes; in a gybe, the stern crosses it. The drawing compares states without tracing a route to reproduce.

The lesson separates heading change, tack change and the relationship between sail and wind. It compares two imaginary boats with the same final state but different histories. Portuguese terminology is placed in the context of sailing training. Execution, coordination and equipment movements remain practical material requiring qualified review.
